Labiaplasty

Discreet aesthetic reshaping of your most intimate features, Labiaplasty aims to enhance the size and the shape of the outer, visible vaginal area.

The outer areas of the vagina known as the vulva are made up of the labia majora, or outer lip, and labia minora, or inner lip.

Factors such as aging or massive weight loss may cause the labia major to shrink, or to lose shape. To enhance the shape, fat may be grafted in from other areas of your body, creating a fuller shape and more nubile look.

Conversely, an enlargement of the labia minora can be present from birth, or result from childbirth, aging, infection. Often presenting functional rather than aesthetic problems, this may cause discomfort in certain sporting activities, or when wearing certain kinds of clothing.

The procedure

The procedure to enhance the labia majora lasts between 30 to 60 minutes and can be done under sedation or general anaesthetic. The recovery time is 2-5 days with return to work in 24 to 48 hrs.

The reduction in size of the labia minora takes 60 minutes, and can be done under local or general anaesthetic, although general anaesthetic is preferred for purposes of patient comfort.

Possible side effects or complications

There are no major complications associated with labia minor surgery. The area maybe swollen for 4 to 6 weeks and return to work is possible after one week. In less than 5 percent of patients there may be a suture line breakdown, but this typically heals with the appropriate wound care.
