BLEPHAROPLASTY (EYELID SURGERY)
Tightens upper eyelid skin, reduces bags under the eyes and improves skin wrinkling around eyes.
Eyelid Surgery removes excess skin, muscle and fat. This brings about a younger look to the face by making the eyes look bigger, smoothing out the skin around the eyes and tightening the angles at the corner of the eyes.
The procedure can be performed on upper and or lower eyelids. It can be done under local anaesthesia with sedation or general anaesthesia. For both upper and lower eyelids the duration of operation is approximately 1 to 2 hours.
Side Effects include bruising and swelling which disappears within 5 days, temporary feeling of tightness in eyelid area, tearing and light sensitivity and dry eyes.
Rare complications could include a lowered position of lower eyelids, and blindness.
Other complications include bleeding, infection, swelling at corners of eyes, dry eyes and whiteheads.
Results may be permanent or require revision after 5-10 years.
Downtime is between 5 to 10 days. Reading and visual tasks can be resumed between 48 and 72hrs. Swelling and bruising disappear by day 5 and 7.
