BREAST LIFT
The correction of breast position and firmness without a reduction or increase in size.
Breastfeeding, ageing or weight loss can cause the breasts to sag. If there is enough breast tissue then a breast lift also called mastopexy will restore the perkiness and shape of the breast.“Mastopexy” (i.e. breast lift) refers to the correction of breast position and firmness, without a reduction or increase in size. If the breast tissue is insufficient in volume a breast implant can be added to the procedure in which case the procedure is called a Breast Augmentation Mastopexy.
The Mastopexy operation is done under general anaesthetic and lasts between 90 minutes to 150 minutes. The scar may be a single vertical scar from the lower edge of the nipple to the inframammary fold or an added short horizontal scar in the inframammary fold giving the appearance of an inverted T .
The scars are healed within two weeks. The final shape of the breast will be seen at one year after the operation.
